weaving photography, handwriting and handmade paper into one poetic medium.
rooted in

Intimate photography sessions and handcrafted pieces, created slowly and with care, where stories are held in the traces we leave behind.
A TRIBUTE TO THE ART OF SLOW SEEING.

In my sessions, people are invited to write letters; to their child, partner, parent or themselves.
I photograph both the act of writing and the connection.
The wild, textured fibers of the paper don’t just hold the image; they become part of it.
They blur the edges.
They soften the light.
PAPER BECOMES SKIN
HANDWRITING BECOMES VOICE
PHOTOGRAPHS BECOME TRACES OF PRESENCE

I’m Astrid, a Dutch papermaker and storyteller living in Thun, Switzerland. I’m married and a mother of two sons. I love exploring the mountains and enjoying the Thunersee; swimming, paddling, or simply being by the water with my family.
